Summary
On Behalf of our client, Manpower Is seeking to recruit a Junior Court Litigation Associate.

Job Responsibilities
:

  • Assist in, initiate, or continue any court-related procedures necessary or required within the context of the enforcement process
  • Liaise with external lawyers regarding court-related procedures
  • Draft, prepare, and file judicial acts and related documents necessary for court proceedings
  • Prepare and assist in preparing court files as needed
  • Liaise with other units and sections to collect data, documentation, and information for court proceedings
  • Attend and represent the organization in court sittings
  • Assist any officer, employee, or agent who needs to attend court sittings
  • Work closely with enforcement officers and report to enforcement management on tasks such as reviewing inspection reports, preparing cases for the compliance monitoring committee, issuing administrative measures letters, and preparing publication notices
  • Lead and assist in periodic exercises carried out by the Enforcement Section
  • Contribute to the drawing up and maintenance of guidance and other papers issued
  • Liaise and cooperate with supervisory authorities locally and abroad for joint enforcement and follow-up actions
  • Organize and deliver AML training and public awareness, alone or with other organizations
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects and assignments as directed by senior management
  • Coordinate and attend internal and external meetings as required
  • Represent the Unit in proceedings, including as a witness, before any court, tribunal, or adjudicating body
  • Report to and update senior management about new or ongoing court proceedings or judgments
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by senior management

Requirements :

- LL.B. (Hons) / LL.D. / M.Adv. Degree or an equivalent academic qualification
- Warrant or registration to practice as an advocate in Malta or in the process of obtaining the same
- Minimum of 2 years of court practice or relevant experience
- Good understanding of the laws governing the prevention of money laundering and funding of terrorism in Malta, international standards, and EU legislation
- Sound knowledge of relevant EU Directives and related local legislation governing the financial, gaming, and other regulated sectors
- Familiarity with the operations of the above-mentioned sectors
- Experience in applying anti-money laundering and counter-funding of terrorism legislation (considered an asset)
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in Maltese and English
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and office automation tools
